Open Position – Mid-Level Environmental Analyst

Acorn Environmental (Acorn) is seeking a mid-level environmental analyst with 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting who is looking to accelerate their career by assisting with a range of exciting projects. This position involves learning a niche consulting market in supporting Native American Tribes with environmental compliance for fee-to-trust acquisitions, land management/planning, and development projects.

Acorn Environmental is a dynamic women-owned environmental planning and analysis firm specializing in services for Native American tribes, public agencies, and private sector clients. We are experts in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), tribal environmental policies and ordinances, and related environmental laws and regulations. Our office is located in El Dorado Hills, California, but the majority of our staff enjoy working remotely.

A Day in the Life

As a small business, our staff are constantly collaborating in real-time to meet project deadlines as a team. Occasional travel may be needed. Typical tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Researching and writing sections of larger environmental compliance documents in accordance with CEQA and NEPA;
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports, including summarizing research and survey results;
  • Occasionally assisting with environmental fieldwork as needed;
  • Word processing and editorial tasks, such as document formatting, pdf compilation, and conducting reference checks; and
  • Checking in and collaborating with colleagues

Required Qualifications to Apply

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science/policy, biology, or similar environmental field;
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental consulting and in writing environmental compliance documents in accordance with CEQA and NEPA;
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills (a writing sample will be requested);
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite

We offer flexible hours to accommodate work/life balance, or for staff working in various time zones or who just enjoy traveling. Other benefits include paid vacation/sick time and paid holidays. Starting compensation for this position will vary depending on the experience and educational background of the selected candidate but is expected to range between $75,000 and $110,000 annually.
